Cloud Infrastructure & Backup

Azure and AWS migration, virtualisation, Microsoft 365 and a backup strategy that is actually tested — not just configured.

Overview

What We Deliver

Cloud is not automatically cheaper or safer. Lifting an over-provisioned physical server into a cloud VM without rightsizing it produces a bill that grows every month, and a backup job that has never been restored is not a backup.

BS Gateway takes a workload-by-workload approach: assess what you run, decide honestly what should move and what should not, size it correctly, migrate with a rollback plan, and put a 3-2-1 backup strategy behind it with restores tested on a schedule. Where staying on-premise is the better answer, we will tell you so.

Scope of Work

  • Workload assessment and cloud readiness review
  • Migration planning with rollback and cutover windows
  • Microsoft Azure and AWS deployment and rightsizing
  • Server virtualisation and consolidation
  • Microsoft 365 tenant setup, migration and security baseline
  • Backup design on a 3-2-1 principle with tested restores
  • Disaster recovery planning with defined RPO and RTO
  • Cost review and ongoing optimisation

What Working With Us Means

  • Honest assessment — if a workload is better left on-premise, we say so rather than migrating it anyway
  • Restores tested on a schedule, with evidence, because an untested backup is only a hope
  • Documented RPO and RTO targets agreed with you before design, not discovered during an outage
  • Cost review built into the engagement so cloud spend does not quietly grow
Capabilities

Cloud Infrastructure in Detail

Cloud Migration

Workload assessment, rightsizing and phased migration to Azure or AWS with a documented rollback plan.

Microsoft 365

Tenant setup, mailbox and file migration, MFA enforcement and a security baseline applied from day one.

Virtualisation

Server consolidation on VMware or Hyper-V, cutting hardware footprint, power draw and maintenance overhead.

Backup & Recovery

3-2-1 backup design with offsite copies, immutability where supported, and restores tested on a schedule.

Disaster Recovery

DR planning with agreed RPO and RTO targets, documented runbooks and periodic failover rehearsal.

Cost Optimisation

Rightsizing, reserved capacity and lifecycle policies to stop cloud spend drifting upward month on month.

Questions

Cloud Infrastructure FAQs

Almost never. Email, collaboration and web-facing applications usually benefit clearly. Latency-sensitive systems, large local file stores, licensing-constrained legacy applications and workloads with heavy predictable compute are often cheaper and simpler on-premise. We assess workload by workload and give you the reasoning for each.

Three copies of your data, on two different media types, with one copy offsite. It is the baseline that survives the common failure modes — hardware failure, accidental deletion, site loss and ransomware. Where the platform supports immutability, we add it, so backups cannot be encrypted or deleted by an attacker who reaches the backup system.

A Microsoft 365 migration for a 50-user organisation is typically 2–4 weeks including preparation and cutover. Server workload migrations depend heavily on data volume, application dependencies and acceptable downtime. We produce a phased plan after the assessment so you know the schedule before committing.

Yes. Most of our clients run hybrid — identity and email in the cloud, with file, application or database servers on-premise. We design the connectivity, identity synchronisation and backup to work consistently across both.
